the anatomy of smell, how aromatics are detected and the brain's reaction
to olfactory stimulation.
- Discuss
the history of aromatics and why through history they have played
a part in the human healing process.
- Describe
the production processes, the quality of essential oils, and the guidelines
for buying essential oils for healing.
Integrate the physical and emotional effects of essential oils into
their practice.
- Match
the appropriate aromas and essential oils to treat the disorder.
- Apply
the safety precautions and contraindications associated with essential
oils.
- Perform
a consultation and devise an individual treatment plan.

Overview
of Workshop
This is an interactive workshop in which
the participants learn about the history of aromatics and how they play
a key role in the healing process. There will be an in depth discussion
about the production and quality of oils and advice about purchasing
guidelines.
Participants will learn and practice alchemy (mixing)
and will demonstrate their learning by making personal blends for specific
healing intentions.
This workshop
is usually provided through a school of massage, AMTA chapters, or at
a facility that has been set up to include banquet tables for practicing
blending techniques. Samples of essential oils will be available for
participant use and practice. Participants also receive a training manual
and additional literature about aromatherapy.
